Director & Professor of the School of Urban and Regional Planning at the Universty of Alberta.
Dr. Summers is Professor and Director of the University of Alberta’s School of Urban and Regional Planning and the Academic Director of the University of Alberta’s Sustainability Council. His research focuses on how communities can transition to a more sustainable form.
His winter city interests include a focus on active transportation in winter environments, how indoor and outdoor spaces interact, and main street vibrancy in winter months. He has a BA in Geography from the University of Alberta, a Masters of Geography from Carleton University and a Phd in Interdisciplinary Rural Studies from the University of Guelph. He also is a registered Professional Planner (RPP) with the Alberta Professional Planners Institute.
